New Years Resolutions

New Years resolutions. Why don't they (or do they) stick?


Think of something you REALLY like to do. REALLY, REALLY like to do....... How do you feel when you're engaged in that activity? Where does that feeling come from in your body. How easy would it be for you to stop what you're doing and go do that activity now?


Now, think of something you REALLY DON'T like doing. How do you feel when you're engaged in that activity? How does your body react? How easy would it be for you to stop what you're doing and go do that now?


See the difference? In the first instance, your conscious and subconscious minds are working together "in congruence", whilst in the second instance, your subconscious is trying to keep you away from the negative emotions you associate with that activity.



That first activity has "stuck" because the subconscious mind finds an emotional reward with it, a stimulation of the hormone "Dopamine" - a mood elevator. We are human beings. If we do something once and it feels good, we want to do it again. It's as simple as that.


The second activity doesn't "stick" because the subconscious now associates a negative emotion with that activity.


Through hypnosis, we can offer the subconscious mind suggestions that associate an activity once coupled with negative emotions (doubt, fear, procrastination, for instance) with joy and confidence.

From exam anxiety, through self-esteem to phobic response, once the two parts of your mind are "in congruence", the effects are instant and amazing.
